I finished it!! Justin was much easier than Brian. I quite like the result, the motive is beautiful and I think I got the resemblance right.

Its so rare to see someone who has a good knowlege of the eyes. Most people render it as a basic circle and dont go beyond that. I see that you have taken the extra step of expressing the layers of skin that move across the eyeball. I find the lashes may be a bit long, prehaps a little more emphasis on the way the eye and the cheek bone cause the lights to form a warped circle would be nice. Overall its a strong composition.

I find most artists hate doing straight forward with lights coming from the front like that. Is this the case for you? I find that I dont like to do it because its harder to create a variety of line and tone to convey what I want to express while still mainting high realism.

Just as beautiful as I thought...so much emotion on the expression of their faces...and so calm at the same time. The shading is superb, and I can't take my eyes off of Brian's eyelids.

Thank you so much, Deb! In fact, the eyelids of Brian took most of the time. The shading was very difficult. I'm quite happy with it now when I look on the reference pic.
